My New Novel is Out!

Yes, I’ve been delayed once again in adding to the JRW blog! I spent the summer working with my publisher on my contemporary romance, Forsaking All Others. This was a project close to my heart because it evolved from personal experience. The story begins in California, but takes place mostly in Hawaii, with little side trips to New York City.

At one point in my life, I was a corporate event planner, and that seemed a good vocation for my heroine, Erin Hayes. (After all, they say you should write about something you know.) Certain characters are modeled after real people, but others are purely made up.

The story encompasses the idea of a second-chance romance. As it says in the description: “…this emotionally compelling novel explores the enduring power of love, the weight of regret, and the courage it takes to embrace a second chance.” I believe the premise here is one to which many readers can relate.

As Forsaking begins, Erin is in a loving relationship with David, a renowned San Diego architect. He expects her answer to his marriage proposal when she returns from a business trip to Hawaii. But it’s there that Erin’s life is turned upside down when she unexpectedly runs into Nick, the man she loved—and divorced—some 20 years ago.

Readers will learn what caused their breakup, how their reunion unfolds and how an emergency situation sets their newfound relationship on a totally different track.
